Working Together

I am a humanistic counsellor because I believe that every client has it within themselves to find their own solutions.  For me, the most effective counselling is when my clients reach their own self awareness through exploring in a safe and empathic space that we have created together.  My role is neither to lead or to advise you but rather to hold a space within which you can explore without fear of judgement.  You are the expert in you, no one else.

In this safe space, you can explore what has brought you to counselling, whether it be anxiety, low self-esteem, feelings of depression or grief.  You may have experienced trauma that is 'playing out' still in your life right now or you just might feel that something isn't quite right and you want to feel happier than you do.

I believe that we can all change but I also know the journey can be  challenging and at times uncomfortable and upsetting.   Being our 'authentic selves' is not always easy, especially if we have learned not to be that way.  Change can be painful because it requires us to break certain ways of being and behaviour that we may have had for a very long time.  Counselling is an opportunity for you to have time entirely for yourself to try and connect back with the 'real you' and achieve positive change in your life.

You are utterly unique as is your life experience and because of that I do not follow one specific therapeutic model and that makes me 'integrative' as I use parts of more than one therapeutic approach.  Research has shown that what really makes the biggest difference in making counselling effective is the quality of the relationship between counsellor and client and I really believe that.

Your counselling sessions are entirely yours to work in the way that suits you and suits your needs best.

I offer online sessions and my face to face sessions are in Clapham, South London .  If you wanted to have a chat to see if I seem like a good fit for you I also offer a free 20 minute phone consultation.  I am a professional member of the British Association of Counselling and Pyschotherapy and as such I follow their ethical guidelines which are designed to put you first and foremost in all our time together.  If you wanted to read the guidelines for yourself, please click here.
